Lucent truth and Crippling ambiguity

Heading off into the horizon of my life without a map or compass. A curse, a blessing? Who knows? We'll see. Bring it on.

Meanwhile, unbeknownst to me...

Quantum of Solace: a lesson in the perils of film editing. Honestly, the movie would have been better off being 3 hours long and more cohesive/coherent as a result. But hey, people got their fill of Daniel Craig skin (this just in, he is as delish as they say).

I will be in St. Louis over New Year's Eve/Day.

Gainesville for Thanksgiving and the rest of the winter holidays. This year will feel decidedly more different than before... no excuses now, we're all adults, in spite of all our equivocation. I suppose it's nothing to cry about, but I think I'll angst about it some more anyway.

In more general news, I need to stop getting upset so easily. More specifically: stop taking things so personally all the time.

My tempestuous ardor

Go see this movie. Recently, rarely does cinema appear that focuses as much on the music as it does on the story telling. August Rush is an amazing, touching, and miraculous film. Take note of Robin Williams' performance; to me, his character had the human touch that many actors nowadays are unable to impart.

This next picture speaks for itself.

Excuse my bare midriff.
Rock on!
Merry Christmas to all of you who celebrate it... happy holidays to the rest of us.

My whispered challenge

Nightmare Before Christmas.
In 3-D.
Hell yes.
And I still have the glasses for posterity.

It's amazing what a new perspective will do for your perception of something. I was never really a huge fan of the movie, but seeing it this way brought a new life to it.

Sometimes you can't help but wonder how you would feel about something when you see it under a different light. The shades of grey never seem quite as menacing as they really are.

What's the reasoning on the other side? I am trying really, really hard to understand why things are happening the way they are, nationally. Is there really, truly a good explanation for everything?

Maybe the way things are... really are as good as it gets. How do you differentiate reality from fantasy when you have no basis to do so?

Blah... so many uncertainties.
